Anville series 500 data logger systems

The Anville series 500 system is a modular system with a capacity from 8 to 48 type T thermocouple inputs, increased in blocks of eight. An additional input module with four analogue inputs (for pressure sensors) can be added in place of one of the eight input type T thermocouple modules.

All Anville systems use Coto reed relay switching for thermocouple and analogue inputs. Reed relays have many advantages over semiconductor switching including 250VDC isolation between inputs, 400VDC isolation to ground, no thermoelectric EMF generation, no resistive offsets, long life and total reliability.

A feature only available with reed relay switching is to use one Pt100 input to monitor a calibrated, fixed value resistor (0.0°C with a 100Ω resistor) checking the health and calibration of the series 500 every time that the channel is monitored. This provides a continuous check on the unit because if this calibration channel does not read the "correct" temperature then all the other input channel readings are also in error.

The accuracy of the Anville series 500 system for type T thermocouples is ±0.25°C over a measurement range from -200°C to 400°C with a resolution of 0.01°C. This accuracy of ±0.25°C is maintained over an ambient operating temperature range from 0°C to 40°C and includes all errors due to thermocouple cold junction compensation, DC amplifier, A/D converter and thermocouple linearization.

In the Anville series 500 system the cold junction compensation error is minimised by using correctly compensated miniature thermocouple connectors with matching class 1 thermocouple wiring to the cold junction sensor connection. A 1/3 DIN Pt100 sensor measures the cold junction sensor connection. All series 500 systems are supplied complete with a UKAS traceable calibration certificate. 100Ω calibration check resistor, a full set of miniature type T plugs and two eight-way thermocouple junction assemblies.
